On 30 June 2016, Banco de la República started circulating the 20 thousand peso-banknote, the second of the new family.

The channels at La Mojana¹ in the region where the Zenú people settled, the fruit of the anón, the Zenú earring, and the sombrero vueltiao², together with President Alfonso López Michelsen, are the image of the new banknote. This banknote will circulate simultaneously with the current one.

Its predominant color is orange, with changes in tonality. Its measurements are 66 mm high × 143 mm wide.
